Wasn't sure about buying this little pistol. For $25 I didn't think it would amount to much but I was pleasantly surprised. Had a heck of a time putting the string on it but after I finally managed to do so it was time to try my hand at shooting it. The first couple bolts I tried to shoot went nowhere. They actually just slipped under the string. Discovered I was sliding the bolt back too far. When I figured that out and shot the first clean shot, I was amazed at the power of this little beast. I shot at about the distance of about 30 feet at a piece of 2 and a half inch styrofoam and the bolt went almost completely through it. I have added a few more pieces to my collection ( M48 cyclone, machete, war hammer ) and have been extremely happy with all my purchases. Now I'm going to buy another crossbow, a bigger and even more powerful one, and I have my eye on another bladed item or two. My home is much more protected now from any unwise intruder's, not anxious to unleash on anyone but won't hesitate to do so if circumstances dictate the need. A very pleased costumer.

The little crossbow is powerful and a great buy. Not for kids. Great for survival or small game. Nice addition to the crossbow collection. Takes up very little space in a backpack or on a shoulder sling.

I GOT THE 50lbs FOR THE KID, HE A LITTLE YOUNG TO PULL THE 80. I'M TEACHING HIM HUNTING SAFETY AND SHOOTING SKILLS. AS YOU CAN TELL I AM HUNTER AND I USE BOW AND GUNS FOR HUNTING. THIS IS A GREAT LEARNING TOOL AND ALSO. NOW WE ARE ABLE TO SHOOT TOGETHER. THANK YOU FROM THE NEW FATHER AND SON TEAM...……….FOR THAT WE WILL GIVE THE CROSSBOW PISTOL 5 STARS

I have been using this crossbow pistol for years with no problems other than screws coming loose. A little Locktite on the threads will fix that. It is also accurate. I have ruined several bolts by hitting ones already in the target (a Robin Hood). A cardboard box stuffed with old phone books or thick catalogs makes a nice back stop. My only complaint is that the trigger pull is very hard. If you plan to use this a lot, get some some extra bolts, a spare string, end caps, and some bowstring wax. This is an amazing value.

Doesn't need to pull back strength also perfect for combat or shooting practice. Great accuracy for under 20 bucks! !!
Apr 29, 2016

I have been using crossbow pistols like these for several years without a problem. My only complaint is that the trigger pull is hard. Wax the string often and put some locktite on the screws to keep them from loosing up, and you should get a lot of use out of it. The string will wear out eventually, so get a spare string and end caps for the limbs. Old phone books make great target backers.

I've got approximately30 crossbows and crossbow pistols in my extensive collection of firearms, knives, swords, military surplus(past and present, any military vehicles. I purchase the least expensive. On BUDK for having family fun, target practice, and my beginner crossbow hunters. But how can an adult gives negative reviews on these items just because they don't add up to a Ten Point. These are quality products for such a low price, some might need a little work here and there but they don't cost $1200-$1800 like Ten Points crossbows either.
Dec 26, 2015

Got it as a Christmas gift, it went together fine & shoots pretty good. It's a little powerful but it's fun!
Aug 29, 2015

A very awesome crossbow! The bolts are very sharp and the whole crossbow holds together. I have no idea why others say it sucks.
Jan 17, 2015

First, just take all your nuts off and lock tight them, Problems solved. Second, a little dab of silicon under you sight mount holds it steady and in place DONT over tighten'!!! Third, When you load it make sure the safety is on! This is a VERY GOOD idea for ANY type fire arm! And, when you remove safety DON'T push bolt back any further on rail! This is were your miss fires come from. The string will travel between the bolt and the rail! Fourth, WAX THE STRING AND RAIL!!! first and every 10 or so bolts. This Is A MUST! Over all, Excellent! Great for teachin' the youngin's or the new Wife....

I bought this little bow with very little expectations but, what a cool little weapon. This thing iv very accurate I can shout constant groups at twenty five feet and this thing will shoot through a five gallon joint compound bucket with ease. I don't hunt but, you could definitely take small game with this if needed. I highly recommend this little bow to anyone.
Sep 07, 2014

Good little starter crossbow. A little hard to string by your self. But other wise I think you get your money's worth.
Feb 02, 2014

This thing is awesome all you guys who say its hard to string just must not be doing it right I strung this thing all by my self im 150 lbs and 5'11" the darts do hike up but if you sight it in its fine my only issue was after sticking each dart that came with it about five times each into a live tree supple but( don't know what kind ) the metal tips started coming unglued I'd suggest the aluminum darts for this problem now I have a bunch of stun darts also make sure safety is on before sliding the dart under the leaf spring so that it is the proper distance from the string other wise you'll get a very unpleasant surprise like I did all in all great fricken crossbow I love this thing and would recommend it to any and all of my friends if you still have problems stringing this crossbow take it to a nearby archery shop and they can string it for you hope this was helpful happy shooting
Jan 30, 2014

This is a very powerful crossbow. The darts are razor sharp. I am really impressed. I would like to ask BUDK to issue a warning with this amazing weapon. The edges on the bow itself are just as sharp as the darts. Be careful when stringing this bow. Wear gloves. I sliced both of my hands while holding it in a bent position while my friend attached the other end of the string. This truly is an amazing weapon.
Nov 18, 2013

Have fun stringing this if you are alone the video Bud K does showing it being strung makes it look way easier then what it really is. I'm 6'3" 300 lbs and i couldn't do it by my self i had to have my brother who is 5'8" and 250 lbs help me get it strung. You will have to adjust the sights when i got mine they was shooting way high and to the left after 5 shots 2 of which i lost in the fall leaves i was hitting pretty good at 20 feet or so. All in all a good little crossbow to have fun with you are by no means going to bring down large game with it but a rabbit, squirrel, or bird yea with ease. This is no a toy by any means if you hit a person with this it will do some serious damage to them. The only complaint i have about this bow is the Cheap plastic front site but for the 10 bucks I paid well worth the money. Be sure to puck up rail lube and wax for it as well as extra bolts and strings.
Nov 14, 2013

I am tired of people complaining about this breaking. Be warned however that the screws are not tightened and need to be tightened so for stuff breaking thats the owners fault. I have had my cross bow and shoot it everyday, the screws will come lose after several shots so tighten them again. My string got frayed and BUDK sent me a free new string, so this is a very good purchase. I shot a bird in the wing and killed it for attacking my cat. Buy this, you won't be disappointed.
Nov 10, 2013

This weapon is excellent i used it to shoot zombies, It is an excellent product works like a charm.
Nov 06, 2013

This is a great little bow for the money shoots great lots of power for size it shoots better with the aluminum bolts took a rabbit with it like so much bought two .
Oct 24, 2013

This is such a fantastic deal! Very worth the money! From reading the reviews, I expected a good product, but was still pleasantly surprised! Much more power than I expected.
Oct 23, 2013

Oct 22, 2013

The string when i got it was a little frayed but does not affect the shooting what so ever. This is a fantastic bow, and i will be buying more. Shoots very powerfully and is nice to hold and small and compact. Easy set up, my dad and i did it, and again this is great. Thanks budk!
Oct 20, 2013

Great bow. Hard to string but very powerful. The sight on it doesn't really work well or for me it didn't but after a shot or two you get a idea of where its headed. Maybe my range was to short to be accurate. I really wanted this to get rope in a tree to climb it. I was able to attach fishing line to the bolt. Remove the sight and fire it over a high branch after a couple trys. Then you use that to pull up progressingly stronger heavyer lines till climbing rope is in the tree.

Sep 08, 2013

This is a great little crossbow. Be sure to tighten all the screws before you use it, a little drop of lock-tite might help. I have had no problems with the string not catching the bolt once I learned how to set it for each shot. It is powerful enough to stop the ground squirrels. Take care of it like you would any crossbow, use string wax and be prepared to replace strings like any crossbow, and you have a great deal,
Sep 08, 2013

I got an awesome deal two for the price of one I've seen these in the store at 25 dollars a piece. I was also surprised at the quality not at all flimsy and a lot of fun too. I have been happy with all my BUDK purchases and will only buy from them when ordering knives, hunting or self defense related products.
Sep 05, 2013

Having great fun knocking off squirrels in the neighborhood. Don't tell anyone, though. Don't have my small game license yet. Everyone should have one or two.
Sep 05, 2013

How could anyone complain about a ten dollar crossbow. I live in the forest, and my garden gets raided by squirrels, and other rodents. I bought the BOGO deal, so am saving one for a Christmas present for a friend.I am not trying to kill the animals, but frighten them. The crossbow is exactly what I expected for the money. We have also had black bear problems for a couple of years, but it would take something much larger than the Avalanche pistol to scare them. Maybe later I will look into a bigger, better bear hunting crossbow.
Sep 02, 2013

This was a great crossbow. it was my first crossbow ever and i loved it. it would have lasted longer but i didn't take very good care of it. i let it sit in my closet for about 2 months and when i took it out the string was messed up and it wouldn't even go through cardboard. Overall a great purchase.
Aug 27, 2013

A friend and I have had our eyes on this crossbow for a while and we got two of these on the BOGO sale. I love mine! Hubs and I have found it is a good idea to double check it every few shots to make sure string is still on well and the little caps that hold them haven't worked off. Of course, any equipment you are using should be QCd often during use to ensure safety. :-) Very fun for shooting targets...For the price it is a great product.
Aug 22, 2013

Great fun. I definitely enjoy it. However, they aren't joking when thy say use a friend to help string it, cut open my finger on the bow arm but by God i set that string and once it was all strung up, blew through a whole case of water. Very fun.
Aug 04, 2013

For me it is great, being a disabled Vietnam Veteran that cant walk,or go outdoors anymore I just made me a target down the hallway and Zing something else to enjoy as long as youre safe.Had a friend com buy tonight that is an avid dear hunter with a big fancy bow and said he would love to have one when he is in his deer stand . Im sure he will get one soon. The price is great and adding more fun in my life super good.
Aug 04, 2013

Rather difficult to string by myself. Got it strung and the fun began. Works well and has power. Have to be sure not to hit anything solid with the bolts or the tips break off. Bolts are relatively inexpensive so it's not too bad. Working great. Recommend getting extra strings, string and ramp wax. Makes things work much better. Couldn't beat the BOGO on this item.
Apr 06, 2013

Using this Bow was the very first time ever using a Cross Bow. I thoroughly enjoy it and when this one wears out I will definitely buy another BUDK. tHANK YOU
Feb 02, 2013

much fun!!! Excellent product, high quality, worth buying
Jan 19, 2013

Sent out for this crossbow pistol abut 2 weeks ago. Finally got to pluck around with it and have to say i'm impressed with it for a $20 pistol. Accidently forgot to push the string loader back in on the 3rd shot, I kinda chipped a little bit of the plastic off the end of the barrel by the sight. But after that it still shoots really well . Honestly if anyone has issues with this crossbow, it's because they didn't read the handling instructions. Definately gonna get another one for group shootings on the weekends.
Dec 21, 2012

I just received my pistol crossbow and it is awesome! I have only fired a couple of bolts but I can already tell that this is a great purchase! I will advise anyone who buys this product to also buy some extra bolts and don't shoot them into trees. I did that and I already broke 2. It's my own fault but I would recommend getting some other bolts just in case. Other than that this was a great buy! Thanks BudK!!!
Dec 09, 2012

This is good for the money shoots well and fast arrows do tend to fly up from long distances
Nov 21, 2012

The bow works great I ended up using 550 cord for the string it shoots better and hasn't broke since.
Nov 19, 2012

I just got mine today...Been shooting it for a few hours and its a lot of fun..cant go wrong for $20 bucks its pretty sturdy and accurate...I'd order extra arrows if you're going to try to shoot wooden objects.
Nov 04, 2012

WOW! This is a great crossbow for beginners! It has real good velocity and accuracy. The string doesn't last too long, but if you install the string JUST right, it'll last a while!
Oct 29, 2012

the best for the money. I've had mine for over a year and never had a problem. can hit the target on back of box easily from 25 yards away. great and fun crossbow to use at family gatherings. i also recommend buy extras arrows.
Oct 12, 2012

I had alot of fun with this. I got mine about 4 months ago. We set up a target and just started shooting at it. The only thing i would do is buy more arrows. and bow wax.
Oct 03, 2012

This crossbow is GREAT and CHEAP! This is my first crossbow I've gotten and i was surprised when I got it, as it packs a punch, but no instructions. It's a MUST BUY!
Sep 17, 2012

Aug 09, 2012

I love this! For 20 bucks this is a really really really great deal! Frame is solid, get some plastic arrows (not aluminum)they will break easier, and some extra strings which are cheap and your ready! Only thing I don't like is its rough on the top of my hand when I cock it and am now getting a irritated soar area. But overall, very excellent source of fun for the price! I Might buy another.
Jun 26, 2012

Ive used a friends, and between the two of us have fired off about 50 shots. Once sighted in, pretty accurate. Putting the string on is a pain but can be done with two people. Once on no problems. For 20 bucks you cant go wrong. Also surprisingly powerful, a good buy.
Jun 18, 2012

Johnathan. I have had mine for a little while now and have had no problem with the string. TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN BUYING. The item is great and works just as advertised. As others have said, putting the string on takes work with two people but one that is on then everything is set. Make sure to tighten the bolts on the side of the handle, I didn't and ended up losing two and almost breaking it. A quick trip to Lowe's and everything was settled. Also buy extra bolts because the ones that come with it will break if you shoot them at very solid objects like trees repeatedly. All together, great product and well worth the money.
Jun 13, 2012

i'm thinking about buying this but i'm just worried about the sting breaking so tell me it the string breaks easily or not
Jun 11, 2012

this is one of the best items that i have ever purchased from budk. the string is quite hard to put on even with two people and pretty much the only way you can put it on is take two round logs and center the bow part between them and put your weight on it and string it at the same time but this is a sick buy also very important is to fully push the cocking bar forward and make sure the bolt(the arrow) is all the way back or else the string comes off and will fray on the bow itself also buy extra string and lots of bolts because they break a lot
Apr 30, 2012

I love this little guy. It took a little bit to get the string on, I used a bit of lock tight on all the threads so it holds tight and the bolts that come with it are very durable compared to the others you can buy. My girl even enjoys shooting it! Its too much fun!
Apr 14, 2012

I literally read a ton of reviews on this thing before buying it. The ones on this site and reviews on other sites. Some people complained of it breaking and plastic cracking. From what I could gather this crossbow, just like anything else is meant to be used a certain way. When not used properly, you will mess it up. I went ahead and ordered, 20$, screw it, right? I truly am glad I did. I watched vids on youtube how to set it up and use it. I have followed those guidelines to the T and have had NO issues. This thing is pretty Badazz. Surprisingly accurate and more powerful than I had anticipated. Soooo, if you're trying to decide to buy it, go for it man. Or woman. lol
Mar 07, 2012

This crossbow is very good at hunting small to medium size game. I have already killed a few rabbits and squirrels and I received it a week ago.
Feb 20, 2012

When I opened it in the mail, it looked FREAKING AWESOME! It was a tad difficult to put the strings on, but worth every cent. It fires about 45 yards and fires at high speeds, with great accuracy. For $20 bucks what else could you ask for?
Jan 03, 2012

It arrived today ... my crossbow man!! This is really good, I tell the truth, for this price this crossbow is excellent, very good to train indoors and the strength and impressive, I advise all those in doubt to buy, it will not be sorry. Budk Thanks!!
Dec 08, 2011

One word: BUY!! this crossbow is a must have for beginners into the crossbow area. $20? Don't pass this deal up. You will regret it.
First off, I was tempted to get this a few weeks before black Friday, but I was glad I waited, because the shipping went to half price and the crossbow all went in half so I paid $14.99 instead of $29.99, but even if you pay $29.99 its still 4 stars.Quality is also pretty good, the sight take a while to get adjusted and its a hassle to put together. oh, and the sight furthers away from you the screw that holds it together fell out, but I fixed it with gorilla glue:D
Jun 21, 2011

Lock-tight all of the screws, including the metric allen in the front of the bow, because they will otherwise work lose. Expect it to shoot high, because all arrows lift when fired. Once you get your point of aim, it is surprisingly accurate. The plastic bolts hit hard. The plastic guide for the cocking arm will crack if you don't pull straight back. All said, an excellent buy.
Jun 12, 2011

for $10 plus the extra string i bought for the price i have so much fun my step son whose 5 and i shot it daily we set up multiple targets he shoots better then me i hold it for him and he pulls the trigger but we have a blast i teach him gun safety like my dad did, the aluminum arrows i bought break faster then the plastics and i think the plastics shoot straighter its just a fun little toy to play with for short money buy it. why not. the original string is starting to fray after about 100 shots for $4 a piece i'm buying 2 more and 2 packs of plastic arrows. GREAT STARTER CROSSBOW
Jun 11, 2011

Been playing with it for a few days now. Don't look at this weapon as a toy. Broke a few darts, had a few bounce straight back at me and clean kills. Worth the 10 bucks.
May 17, 2011

its a good gun for the out doors but i would buy some more arrows and a extra string in case you're string rips or you're arrows break =D
May 11, 2011

i can't wait till i have time to buy it. i did some research on it and found out that it is really a great price for quite much fun. i am getting string and bolts for it so i can do some target practice in the attic (or on the front yard). i decided to get a starter crossbow before i jump to the $300.00 ones. i am excited as he*l!
Apr 21, 2011

great crossbow durable powerful and easy to assemble lose arrows quickly so be careful not a toy!!
Apr 15, 2011

Oh my god, this gun is beautiful, it with stands over 1000 shots on the original strings and when that one broke I got a really cheap one, and shot about 300 more shots through it then it dry fired, the bow snapped and I have a dent in my knuckle, but you know what, it was worth it, I would definitely recommend this to anyone, I killed a Coyote with it.
Apr 05, 2011

the crossbow itself is pretty nice, fairly good quality. tough to get the string on at first, arrows are.... eh... broke 2 in 10 shots. the metal cap on top came off 4 of them on top of that. its not accurate at all, but it will stick into a wood fence pretty deep. id recommend getting some extra arrows. but for 10 bucks, go for it! its fun.
Jan 22, 2011

Don't hesitate to buy it! It's an excellent deal with NO flaws. The adjustable sights allow you to be very accurate. When I shot my target I underestimated the power, so I aimed a little above and the bolt went flying over my target. I've hit the bullseye several times from across my yard. Not to mention the bolts come very sharp.
Jan 18, 2011

Alright. So before i bought this crossbow, I did a TON of research on it to make sure i was spending my money on something that was actually going to work and not break within the first couple times using it. I eventually decided to sack up and just buy it. And it was quite possibly the best decision I've ever made. This crossbow is incredibly accurate, very sturdy and durable, shoots extremely hard, and superbly priced. As some of the other reviews said, make sure to tighten all of the screws before putting on the bowstring. The bowstring itself was a bit of a hassel to put on, but with two people, we got it on pretty quickly. The bowstring that comes with the crossbow has so far been quite durable and has withstood the 150 odd shots i have fired off so far. It does seem to be fraying a bit, mainly because of misfires. *Make sure to line up your bolt almost to the precipice of the bowstring nock as to prevent your arrow from misfiring*. My target is made up of six, six ft. tall plywood fence slats(approx.
Jul 23, 2010

Just got mine yesterday, bought it at the 9.99 sale price, and would have still been happy to pay the full 19.99! Definitely order some aluminum shaft bolts, as I broke the tip off of a bolt right away, and be sure to tighten up the screws a bit, but otherwise it's already been loads of fun, and I just ordered another for my brothers birthday.
Jul 21, 2010

i'm still going to a larger one eventually but this one for 10 dollars isn't bad. its got some power behind, it doesn't stick every time, and the bolts are cheap. all of the heads are stuck in my fence. lol so its a good crossbow. haven't shot any squirrels yet but oh well. Editor's Note: Thank you for your comments. We have updated the review to reflect the appropriate spelling.
Jul 08, 2010

I bought mine about three years ago and have had many a fun afternoon after work killing phone books. (Phone books make a great indoor target as they safely absorb the impact, which is quite substantial for such a small crossbow.) Still on the first bowstring, but I did buy some aluminum-shaft bolts for it. It really is a blast, well worth the money for hours of fun.
Aug 03, 2009

Jul 29, 2009

Wasn't sure if it would be worth the $20. But it is. Very powerful too, went straight through my target. The bolts could be better, The one that went through the tip broke off. Still powerful enough to stick without the tip though. For the price it's a nice introduction to crossbows.
Jul 10, 2009

Just received this item today. I thought about going with the larger one, but the 50lb pull is actually quite powerful. It will surprise you the first time you shoot it at a board and the bolt sticks. The brightly colored bolts that come with it are easy to find, the black ones that I bought to go with it were much harder to retrieve.
May 31, 2016

I bought mine a month ago and just finally got the chance to assemble it and try it out. This is the second pistol crossbow I have purchased, the result of the first one (being of another brand) bending as I tried to string it. I'm giving it only four stars as the instructions were not the clearest. After the trial and error with the first crossbow, I advise getting help stringing the crossbow, using one person's legs to press the bow into and let the person being used to lever the bow back to string it. A couple of the nuts used to hold the main assembly together were also loose, so make sure to check those. Now the nice thing is that the safety snaps on quite easily, making it much safer to load the bolts. All in all, a worthwhile buy for ten bucks.
May 24, 2016

It's hard to complain about a ten dollar crossbow, but I'll try. Actually, I'm not really complaining, but simply pointing out the flaws I observed in the product I received. Whether they're acceptable or not to you for the price paid is up to you. To me, they were. 1. The forward body of the bow is twisted slightly, as if it was under some kind of stress while still warm from the mold. I stress "slightly" because it's only barely discernible to the unaided eye and that's only if you know it's there. The reason I know it's there is that the forward sight sat slightly cockeyed because of it. I had to do some minor surgery and shimming to get the sight straight, but it's ok now. The twist in the body, which is still there, doesn't seem to affect bolt travel at all, so it seems to be a wash...no harm, no foul. (+- 0) 2. The rear sight seemed rather "springy" or "spongy" to me; it would bounce up and down a bit if the crossbow was moved with any force. Maybe that's normal and everything's fine, but it made me uncomfortable, so I glued a short length of matchstick crosswise in the V notch where the sight arm meets the top of the body. I also tightened the screw there. Now the sight remains flexible, but is more rigid than before and doesn't bounce. Whether I accomplished anything or not, or even caused some new problem without realizing it, it just "feels" more right to me than it did before. (- .3--an obviously arbitrary number intended to reflect my dissatisfaction (in the - .3), as well as my lack of knowledge about whether there was anything actually wrong here to start with (the remaining + .7)). 3. Lastly, I noticed after I shot my first bolt that the trigger return spring was sticking 3/4 of the way out of a narrow crease in the body clear back at the butt of the gun. It was only 3/4 exposed because the spring was thicker than the slit and it was lodged in tight. The exposed part of the spring was in pristine condition. I therefore concluded that it came that way from the factory and wasn't a casualty of my first firing. I removed the spring by gradually turning it out until it was free. I then threw it away, but that's all I've done. I haven't tried to replace it. I'm assuming the trigger will still work like it needs to when I need it to, it just won't spring back into its home position afterwards on its own. (- .5 for the nuisance value of having to manually return the trigger to its home position every time and hold it there while cocking.) Anyway, taking this all into account, the repairs required to get the crossbow into a usable (i.e. aimable) state were simple and straightforward enough that anyone could do them. Chances seem pretty good that your bow won't have these particular problems, so if it doesn't have any others, you'll come out of it with a five star, ten dollar crossbow. What are you waiting for? :0)

Not a bad little crossbow. As with ANY weapon, inspect it before using it. Tighten bolts and nuts as needed. It's bit difficult to string it without help. The sights are mostly useless. Definitely buy extra strings as they lose their tension after a few days of shooting. Ive had no problems with the bolts it fires. Just use a proper foam target and the bolts can be reused as many times as you want!

I was quite surprised that this was $20, because it just seems like it's worth more. I think if I came across this and wasn't told the price, I'd guess $40 or 50. This has a lot of power and the bolt tips are very sharp. It can be accurate, but you'd have to brace it because it jumps (about the recoil of a .22LR handgun), and get a finer aiming bead, but I don't think trying to make it accurate a sharpshooter would be necessary. I would recommend getting extra bolts, since the plastic sometimes breaks just behind the tip. other cons: the safety bar will (unless mine is a defect) pop out once the crossbow is fired, and hit the trigger lift (the plastic that pushes the string out of the holding slot). For some reason the safety bar has a spring in it, which I didn't notice until I was wondering why the jostle of shooting a bolt moved the safety. Pulling the string back when the safety is closed over the holding slot will move the safety bar back so the string still goes in the slot and the safety resets. I doesn't seem like it's made to do that, but that would explain the spring for the safety bar. Occasionally the string passes right over the bolt for a misfire (not a safe one either), This occurs less often when I make sure the bolt is pushed all the way back, but sometimes it still does. Minor issue. The design is simple, I won't explain the whole thing, but the simplicity screams cheap, although the cut-corner design works quite well. the crossbow is made of ABS plastic. you should have some trouble (a lot of trouble, if you don't know what your doing) stringing the crossbow, as you would stringing any stiff bow. I'd recommend this as a "for fun" bow. So if you don't plan on hunting with it and are mainly just going to have fun shooting it, this is a perfect item. Although it is VERY capable of hunting [small game]. This is quite a lethal little weapon.

This little pistol-crossbow is good for what it is - a small, easy-to-use, affordable crossbow. We're serious and avid archery buffs and have lots of archery equipment from standard bows, compounds, and high-end high-power crossbows. At the price, these little crossbows are very nice. However - there are a few things needed to get it to perform well and consistently. Maker sure to tighten all nuts and use loctite or nail polish to keep them from loosening (except front bow screw that secures bow to frame). Make sure to wax the entire string well with bow string wax and set in sun for a while or use a hair dryer so the wax melts into the string. Make sure to center the metal bow in the frame accurately. Get some of the aluminum darts - you'll be glad you did. The plastic darts that are included are not for accurate shooting. Now for accuracy, we ended up cutting off the rear adjustable/windage sight all together. The vertical screw is what you end up with after cutting that off. When aiming, align the top of the rear screw to top of front sight and it is pretty accurate at 25-30 feet. We've used a chrono to measure FPS, and it consistently shoots well over 150 FPS. It is not a toy. It is not a pro piece either, though. It is what it is. A nice affordable pistol crossbow that can be used in survival situations, or to attach on a backpack with a lanyard. It is lots of fun. We shoot it in our family room with a standard foam archery target. Fifty feet is still in the good range for this (accuracy and power) if you had to go after small game with it. Up to 75 feet is ok. After that the energy falls off way too much. Again, it is fun for what it is. It will probably go close to a 100 yards, but with no effective power or accuracy. It's a close range thing. Would hate to be a squirrel at 50-75 feet!
Oct 16, 2013

I did have a hard time getting the bow string on even with help. The rear sight is on the flimsy side. But overall for 10 bucks each they are fun to play with

The 50 pound cross bow is great, it shot a bolt right threw a old wood fence board. Sights are useless but the bolts fly relatively straight. Not apple on the head straight but close. The bolts that come with it are awefull, buy different ones.
Sep 05, 2013

It is a great little pistol crossbow and lacking only in the sites, which is a shame because there are several easy fixes some of which could have been done during manufacture.
Sep 05, 2013

Enjoy firing this crossbow. At 20 yards I can shoot a 3 inch group every time. Where I live they have a no firearm shooting in city limits. Now I can keep my shooting skills well practiced. I like.
Sep 05, 2013

Love the crossbow. It is fun to mess with and has enough power for target shooting. The only problem i have had is everytime the trigger is pulled the bowstring comes out of the tip holders and this can make for a pain to put it back in. I finally did a tripple wrap around the string protectors and string and it holds them in place. But other than that it is a good deal for alot of fun.
Sep 04, 2013

I bought the mini-crossbow on the buy one get one free deal. The only drawback (no pun) was trying to string it. It requires two people or some country engineering. once I got it strung and sighted in it will shoot two inch groups at 10 yards with plenty of power. I bought another at the buyone get one free. I have 4 now and I bought extra bolts. You never know when you might want to give a cool gift to a friend or family.
Jul 20, 2013

I bought two of these crossbows during a bud k bogo sale. When I opened the box I thought it was soft, and plasticy. The description plays it like stainless steel with rubber overlay. Feels more like plastic with steel parts. That said, its still pretty cool. The first shot rewarded me with a satisfying "thwak!" Pretty accurate at 25 feet. Its not a tactical, or practical hunting tool, but for the price its fun. And at 27ish bucks for two of them (shipping included) me and my buddy can both have a few laughs.
May 08, 2013

Great crossbow for $20. Haven't had any problems with it so this whole year. Bought an extra string for it and haven't even used it.
Mar 23, 2013

pretty good... I forgot to push charging handle up before spring and the track for the cocking mechanism broke. bow still functions tho once sighted in it shots pretty accurate I plan to fix track and keep using to teach my daughters crossbow fundamentals.
Jan 07, 2013

i like it it shoots good nothing bad i put a pulysistum on it to make it easyer to pull back and it worked good.
Dec 11, 2012

This is very fun to shoot, but it does have a couple of downfalls. The plastic caps that rest on the ends of the limbs break very easily. I've had to replace them three times within a couple months. Also, the sights are a little frustrating to use, considering they are easily pushed out of line and depending on how much you adjust them, there can be a screw in the way of your sights. Other than these minor things, I highly recommend then fun little firearm.
Oct 17, 2012

I got this one quite a while ago when it was on sale. I am still using the same bow string, but I did recently order another string as a backup. It works good for indoor target shooting if you have a very thick foam target. Be careful this is not a toy it is a serious bow. It shoots accurately I have even managed to hit two arrows in the same spot and put a divit in the back of an arrow from hitting it with another arrow a few times.
Aug 03, 2012

Fun little crossbow. After about two shots a spring in the safety popped out the back, but after taking apart the safety mechanism I was able to fix it (having to actually modify the mechanism because the spring just kept popping out after I would screw the plate back on) I was a little disappointed that being as small as I am I had to finagle a way to cock this thing, but regardless, I got that done, and that isn't anything wrong with it, just a warning if you are a small girl. Overall awesome little thing, totally happy I bought it.
May 31, 2012

I got mine in the mail about three hours ago. I've never fired any kind of crossbow, only handguns and rifles. Getting the string on was somewhat tough. It took me about fifteen bolts to sight it in, and still I have a few errant shots. It could be operator error though. But, I have put about fifty bolts downrange and have yet to break a string, which surprises me after reading other reviews. By far this has been a fun $20 investment.
Jan 05, 2012

This crossbow is awesome, but I don't know why but the bolt to hold the crossbow string keeps flying off??
Dec 25, 2011

Excellent crossbow, was a pain to attach string but worth it after. Noticed though the little clip that positions the bolt was kinda cheap and broke before I even got to shoot. Tried it anyways seems to works fairly fine. Also the forward sight's nut came off in shipping? Found it embedded in the foam. Over all, worth the 10 bucks I spent.
Aug 08, 2011

This is a great crossbow and it really does have pinpoint accuracy, but the only flaw is the string frays easily...good buy though.
Jun 15, 2011

Very hard to cock the pistol the metal portion you must pull is only about 1/4 of an inch pinches fingers. I expanded the cocking mechanism using a 3/8 piece of copper tubing. made it more comfortable to cock the sighting end of the pistol is a joke its aim is so high you cannot adjust the sight to correct the problem. Aming about 6" lower you might hit the target but it is still alot of fun.
Jun 12, 2011

its a pretty quick assembly although you'll probably need 2 people to put the string on. The crossbow is pretty high quality i can't imagine it breaking but the string that came with it ripped on my 2nd shot so i had to buy more (that's the only reason for not 5 stars)
May 27, 2011

very strong and more powerful than thought. would recommend getting extra arrows and string. and you can't beat the price.
May 24, 2011

pretty good but you have to put in the bolts right or they don't fire. most of the bolts break pretty easy but all and all it pretty good.
May 16, 2011

Cheap but durable assembly. Low power. Very accurate outside a minimum range. (Bolts hit high.) Five weak, two-fin, target-head bolts, two high-visibility, three dark blue. Tighten everything! Use something softer than plywood as target! FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS TO THE T WHEN ASSEMBLING. Excellent fun. Potentially lethal. EMT recommendation if stuck: stabilize bolt and transport to nearest available ER. DO NOT REMOVE BOLT! The bolt could be the only thing keeping the patient from bleeding out.
May 07, 2011

Worth the price. Fun to play with. The string tends to cause the cocking hooks to crush/break the flat part they stop against on the pistol. The rear sight has a hole drilled too large for the elevations screw so moves sideways about 1/16" so hard to keep on zero. Kids love it. Have to put 6+ layers of cardboard together for a backstop. Goes easily through anything else at 25' or less.
Apr 28, 2011

The Crossbow is definitely worth buying, its very light weight, when i got the box it was so light i questioned its quality, but after opening it and putting it together, its a blast, the only issues that i had with it is, the crossbow string is no joke, you really do need help putting that bad boy on, and the other thing is if its not on properly, the string will break at the tips, so you might want to buy an extra sting when buying this, just a heads up.
Apr 20, 2011

Do not wait! Buy it now! so much fun! Down-sides: Bolt tips stick in targets and don't like to come out; if you don't move the slide back to the forward position, it breaks pieces off the rail; the auto-set safety broke on my third shot; and the bolts don't like to fly well (easy to fix with tri-flighted bolts) But for $10, amazing buy. Would definitely recommend. Advised: buy more bolts...
Apr 14, 2011

it is a good bow it is worth the 10.00 dollars tighten the screws up when you get it i don't have any complaints
Apr 09, 2011

Pretty good. I thought a crossbow for $10 wouldn't be reliable, but it's been working for me so far. The string hasn't broken, but I would recommend buying more bolts along with it.
Mar 21, 2010

i shot it at a pumpkin and thought i lost the bolts but they were inside and one got shot and bent just awesome. Editor's Note: Thank you for your comments. We have updated the review to reflect the appropriate spelling.
Feb 06, 2010

This is a very fun product. only 2 complaints, the first is The string is a real witch with a capital B to put on if you do not have help, the other is all the screws are loose, so the nuts drop off and they are small and hard to find, tighten the screws is one of the first things you should do. in the first day i shot it about 80-90 times it is a blast the bolts will shoot a long distance, and they hit hard, but not hard enough to punch through 3/4 inch plywood. Editor's Note: Thank you for your comments. We have updated the review to reflect the appropriate spelling.

May 29, 2009

decent product for the price. the string that origionally came with it was almost worn out so i had to order another string.. Also, the tips on the arrows do come off and will come off sometimes when the arrow hits a target.. good luck in finding them.
Mar 27, 2009

"Great little gun that exceeded my expectations. Hit bull's eye after zeroing in in 3 shots. Good idea to get x-tra string/ bolts if taking into woods. Excellent for quite"" hunting of small game."""
Feb 26, 2009

this cross bow is great. i just received it today and already shot it at least 50 times. it goes through water bottles and sticks into two by fours. for ten bucks it is worth the price. watch out squirrels.
Feb 23, 2009

I love this little crossbow! Its lot of fun for target practice and fairly accurate. I even find my wife playing with it when i come home from work.
Feb 14, 2009

I recently purchased one of these crossbows and I was impressed with how powerful it was. It did not come with a scope but it has an adjustable rear site that is fairly accurate. Well worth ten dollars.
Jan 15, 2009

Lite-weight under-priced reusable ammo means inexpensive target practice so simple a druken monkey could operate it metal alloy quarrels from some larger x-bows can be used TIP: twist string 3 times when mounting not a full 50 pound pull, but still great! mine didn't come with a scope, but what d'ya need one of those for?
Mar 28, 2016

Dec 26, 2015

i have had this crossbow for 2 years and have had a lot of fun with it but after 1 two 5 hr of shooting the string well break every time, it is super easy to use.
Aug 05, 2014

This things fun to play with shooting a dart board or other stuff at 10-15 yards or so, but made so junky I swear EVERY TIME I loaded it, till the time it was fired and the tension was released, I thought it would just explode into bits and kill us all! :D :D :D
Aug 20, 2013

Bought two during a BOGO event. While I bought extra bolts, I did not get extra strings. Mistake. String broke within less than 15 shots. Other bow working nicely and it is fun to shoot with a few friends. I am giving it a 3 only b/c I have to go through the hassle of calling to ask for a replacement string. Had it not broken, I would have given a higher score.
May 14, 2013

This is an okay pistol crossbow. It is a bear to string and my plastic end cap for the string broke today. I had shot it less than 30 shots overall. I had fired about 9 shots previously and then, as I fired my 13th shot tonight, the plastic end cap just exploded off the end. Now, that being said, it is fun to shoot and, after sighting it in, I was hitting some consistent shots within the center two rings of my target. It is fairly easy to cock and easy to operate. I only marked it down to three stars due to the end cap breaking so quickly. I will be purchasing a few more string sets and see how it goes. If it keeps breaking after so few, I may not continue to use it.
Feb 05, 2013

bought this for my husband and he actually had to fiddle with it to make the aim straight. It is a little cheaply made but my husband likes it. i love your products but this one could be better.
Dec 29, 2012

I just got this and i had a few problems,it was easy to assemble but the first time i shot it the string broke.i put some paracord on the same size as the one that it came with and it works okay...Pretty good for 20 dollars
Nov 04, 2012

Dec 05, 2011

This crossbow has its problems drawstring tips shatter easy, five draws an they snap a simple use of duck tape to prevent the shatter. An a upgrade to 80lb draw string I fired 200+ bolts on the same string. The shot group is super tight I use it for home defense along with the 80lb draw crossbow both have super tight shot groups, I enjoy it an I do have to do regular P.M.C.S to ensure safe operations (just like cleaning my firearm)Gentlemen awesome weapon this is not a toy and should not be used as one I enjoy this item, use extreme care an remember safety first!
This could be greatest deal ever at $10. It is powerful. It is definitely fun. It is NOT a toy. HOWEVER, the plastic tips on the bow break very easily. Go ahead and buy 10 strings when you purchase the crossbow. The strings come with 2 new bow tips. These will break after 1 shot, 10 shots, or maybe 20 shots....who knows? But they will break and you will need to replace them. If you could replace these plastic tips with metal tips, this crossbow would be awesome. I finally got tired of replacing the string after every 10 or 15 shots, so I threw it away. Get that problem fixed, and this thing would be WAAAYYYY cool.
May 26, 2011

cheaply made, disposable, but low price so good for a little while until it breaks. works tho
Apr 19, 2011

I purchased this product and was amazed at the quality of it. I took it out of the box yesterday and shot it with a buddy. This thing is powerful. I shot my first dot clear across the yard. I lost the first dart. I shot them into the ground and they went god only knows where now. I lost every d*** dart. So i ordered more i was having fun. However, today The d*** cable broke after only a total of 5 shots. This makes me very mad after the trouble of assembly and frustration of losing and buying new darts. Not to mention spending more to ship than to purchase so i wont be fixing this for a while. still worth 10 dollars though. Editor's Note: Thank you for your comments. We have updated the review to reflect the appropriate materials.
Dec 29, 2010

Not bad for the price but some modifications are needed to keep it from eating up strings. I covered the plastic string holding tips with packaging tape to add strength. Had issues with the bolt arrows breaking too. You will want to order some replacement strings and better arrows, painted blaze orange so you can find them. Shooting into heavy duty shipping cardboard works well, keep in mind this is not a toy!
Dec 09, 2010

just got mine in the mail today, quality of the crossbow itself is good, but the string broke on my third shot. definitely need to order some more strings.
Dec 06, 2010

Aug 18, 2010

Jul 16, 2009

I've already gone through 3 of them. Each one lasted me about a month before something broke, snapped, or bent. The 1st one I had, the front broke off with the force of the shot, 2nd one broke after 8 shots, 3rd one I just dont play with so I can preserve it for when I really want to play with it. 3 stars are for the fun factor. As for quality, I would give it negative stars if I could.
Apr 28, 2014

Well, when I first got it, it was fun to shoot around with. Not accurate at all, but as each shot when on, all the bolts just kept getting looser no matter how much they were tightened, until the point where i now have a bag full of screws and missing bolts to keep them in place (they fell off somewhere outside). My string was frayed and it never broke, but it got close and budk sent me a new one for free. Not that good unless you have 20 dollars to just throw away. I got this on bogo and my brothers did the same thing as mine. Its a cheap crossbow, you get what you pay for.
Feb 25, 2014

Got this as a gift three or four years ago. At the time it was okay. Used it a few times then moved on when it broke. The string, bow and bolts were fine but the knocks for the string to slide one broke one day when I shot it. Last week I ordered one for my brother and it came with extra knocks so I put them on mine. First day using, his broke and mine broke again. I think I am just going to use some polypro cord and thread it through the holes on the end of the limbs. Hope that works.
Nov 25, 2013

A spring came out the back on my third shot, Now whenever i fire, it goes less than 2 feet. GG Well played BudK.
Nov 22, 2013

I like this crossbow, the pull weight is harder than I expected but do-able. The plastic tip that holds the string broke after about 22 shots. Luckily the string didn't whip me. The screw bolt on the nose that held the sights fell out about 8 shots in. I bought this during a BOGO with free shipping. I'm not too upset that I got 2 for 10 dollars each. I did but 2 sets of strings that come with tips but I shouldn't have to use those after only 22 shots. This xbow is also very inaccurate. Have a nice big target because its not weak in the slightest!!
Sep 05, 2013

These are very cheap. I bought them, 1. because they were buy 1 get 1 free and 2. thinking they would be good entry into crossbows. Even with my little knowledge of crossbows I know these are junk. They don't always shoot. The band doesn't always pick up and fire arrow. The arrows that are included are cheap plastic and break very easy. The first one I shot at a small tree, the tip broke off. 3 out of the 5 that were included broke within a few shots. The rear sight is very flimsy and moves out of place after a few shots. If you're looking for something just to mess around with get this. If you want a decent crossbow that works, stay away from this one.
Nov 04, 2011

When I first got it it was amazing for ten shots then the safety and pull back broke so it wont hold back the string for 1-3 seconds now it is extremely dangerous to even try and load.
Apr 08, 2015

This is a piece of junk when I first pulled it out of the box and went to shoot it I pulled the trigger and it got stuck so I set it down and it shot then I picked it back up and did it again used the site but not good aim at all then I shot it again but the trigger snapped so I gave up but there cheep
Mar 05, 2015

Buy the cobra mini crossbow, ive had my cobra for years with no problems, this one is not reliable when you need the reliability. I wouldn't trust this thing in real combat, and you shouldnt either
Feb 14, 2015

Piece of junk. Tried to string it by myself, didn't work. Got a friend to help, but it still wouldn't work and eventually it snapped. Never even got to shoot one bolt.
Jan 24, 2015

After a few shots the bolts start flying out and it's easy tighten but they keep coming lose. The side of my bow snapped off while firing my 10th or so odd arrow. The bolts are very easy to lose if you're shooting it outside not to mention the bolts them selfs aren't very good but those are cheap too. If you're looking for a crossbow to keep around for a while for target practice go for an 80 pound one at least cause this one is very cheap and breaks very easily.
Nov 30, 2014

It's a cheap piece of junk. Very poorly made. It broke and fell apart before the first bolt could even be fired! The trigger is very difficult to fire. Not worth $2!
May 01, 2014

I used it only one day and the next day it broke when I shot the bolts. It went through my target and the bolt broke.
May 01, 2014

I bought the item and got it within 5 days. it came out of the box with every screw loose. I got it strung and put it away for the night as I get home around 10:00 pm. the next day I go to use it and the safety doesn't work the string jumps forward without pulling the trigger. I was very dis-satisfied with the item. I never even got to fire it.
Apr 12, 2014

It misfires every other shot, the string frayed and fell apart and the bolts only last one shot.
Apr 04, 2014

I bought this crossbow as part of a kit. It was fun the first day, however, EVERY bolt and screw that held it together is loose, and that was out of the box. The nut and bolt that held the sight on FELL out when i took it out of the package. I fired it once and the sight fell off and lost the nut and bolt that held it. My father fired it once and plastic started flying off. the stopper for the metal cock is already busted. The bolts have no weight to them. So little that they can't even penetrate a CARDBOARD box. Overall this is a piece of s**t. I would not recommend this to ANYONE because of the dangers. Also, when trying to cock it back, both mine and my fathers skin as been cut by the (supposedly) not sharp plastic. Being a person who like to build things, I think I can build one better than this. This plastic piece of s**t should not even exist. I have had mine a week and it looks like I have heavily used it for years. (Only have shot about 30 shots) Overall, I think this was the last purchase from this site. Everything I have gotten from here has been s**t.
Mar 02, 2014

Got as a gift and only got to shoot it once and now the safety does not work as well as once it is cocked the string fires without even touching the trigger. I would not recommend this product, which is a shame because I was excited to get it.
Jan 05, 2014

My son was able to use this product only about two times before the string broke and the safety quit working. Not to mention it didn't come with a screw for the sight. Will never suggest this product!!!
Nov 29, 2013

Purchased this as a BOGO item. Both items broke the first time using. Would not recommend. Cheaply made...and would agree with reviewer below---you get what you pay for.
Nov 25, 2013

this is a pretty cool little toy until your third shot and the loop on the string brakes. but although it broke when i called to return it they refunded my purchase and they even let me keep the crappy little thing.
Nov 21, 2013

after a bout 30 shots the string stared to come apart, and the metal limbed bar broke after about 50-75 shots; if you want a crossbow spend the extra money buy a more exspensive one.
Nov 08, 2013

I was amazed how inexpensive this item was, but I guess you get what you pay for. The screw at the tip of the bow fell out as soon as I took it out of the box which should've been a warning. I tried to be gentle with it since it's made of light plastic but after 2 shots the plastic around the safety snapped off so now I can't load it anymore without it immediately releasing and firing. No time to stop and aim. I bought the pack with extra bolts and an additional string and after shipping I paid $50 and only got to shoot it twice. Wow. I love BudK and I will continue to shop here but BE WARNED, if you want a crossbow, go to a local store so you can see what you're getting before you get it. If I had been able to hold this in my hand before I purchased it, I never would have wasted my money.
Aug 25, 2013

Bought two during a bogo sale! Both strings broke within 10-20 shots each and the bolts are very weak! I had no problem flexing the arm to install the string but the quality of the strings, crossbow bodies and bolts leave much to be desired! Take my advice and by something of better quality!
Jun 20, 2013

The Crossbow is made of lightweight plastic, and the bolts that come with it are so light, that I'd doubt they could do anything. I'll never know because the string broke on the very first shot, despite following the cryptic assembly instructions/warnings on the box. Avoid, and spend a little more money on something better.
Dec 29, 2011

I have shot many crossbows in my time, this has to be one of those you get what you pay for type crossbows. Shoots like crap! I don't know if I got a defective unit or all the other reviews that I have read been shooting something else ? if I could put no stars as my score I would!
