This is great for first crossbow. First shot is worth it. Price is amazing for what your getting. It is a 80LB Crossbow but the product shows it as a 70LB Crossbow. You'll need a second pair of hands to string this as well. Great buy all around.

If you must get your gear on a tight budget, this no frills type of weapon is the way to go. Without the many extra cables and pulleys, and complex systems of more expensive crossbows, it is my opinion there is less to go wrong on a weapon of this sort. Heck, in a real dire situation, replacement strings, even replacement bow limbs could be improvised to replace broken equipment. This is just a good solid, basic functioning weapon, with no frills, with surprisingly good quality for the very attractive price.

mine only came with the standard iron sights which i actually could not sight in properly... i flattened the rear sight and it was still not enough. so i bought a $15 baraska scope and now this thing is dead on.<br /><br />you will also need a rope cocker and more bolts... all available on amazon. mine came with these 2 14" black alum bolts... i would buy more of the same cuz they seem to be the best 14" darts i can find... i will probably try to cut down some carbon bolts for this bow when i feel like spending the money

Man I have to start by saying I love budk everytime I get some money I go shoping here..... now what that said I will talk about this crossbow, I just got it today and I like it a lot. When I orederd it I knew I would need more bolts so I got 2 more packs of 5 so I had 12 because it comes with 2 and I used a tiedown strap and made short work of stringing the crossbow by myself went outside and broke the frist bolt by not knowing how strong it was going to be and that is why you get more bolts for it......this will make a great crossbow for my zombie killing kit.......lol.....so be safe, have fun, and keep calm and kill zombies

Important! They do not tell you this...<br />Crossbow Specs-<br />Crossbow width: 17 1/2 Inches<br />Crossbow length: 19 1/2 inches<br />Crossbow height: 6 Inches<br /> Differences between picture, and actual product<br />In the picture it say "cobra System on the bow", has a picture of a Cobra with a yellow background on the back for the emblem, and the sights are adjusted in the back. On the the actual product it will say "Mini Cross Bow" on the Bow, it has "Avalanche (R)" on the back emblem seeing as to this is an Avalanche product, and the Sights are slightly different. As well as the actual Crossbow being an 80 lbs Crossbow.<br /><br />Pros-<br /><br />Light<br /><br />Cobra system cocking mechanism<br /><br />Low price, high quality<br /><br />Accurate (Enough to send a Bolt through the back of another Bolt at about 20 feet)<br /><br />Auto Safety for every cock<br /><br />Silent for a Crossbow<br /><br />Cons-<br /><br />When Bolts hit a tree, they will penetrate enough so you will not be able to get them back. (Luckily it is accurate enough so you don't miss often)<br /><br />The instructions are not very clear, and could lead to miss communication, and improper construction of the Bow.<br /><br />Other Notes-<br />It is a great Crossbow! I have one, my father has one, and we have family friends have have had the same Crossbow for 20+ years, and have only needed to replace the strings in those years.<br /><br />It's a great deal, good for fun skeet shooting or light hunting such as animals that might be in your very own backyard. Make sure to take care of her, and she will last forever. Be sure to look up proper care, or take a course if you're around any that are offered.

It was a pain to string, but I see why. This thing has some kick. It went clean through a vinyl fence and through a yard to stick into the other vinyl fence. I just need to buy some more arrows because they break too easy.

This thing is amazing... It is powerful... A little inaccurate at first but when you practice and adjust the sights this thing is deadly... I tested it on a metal cake pan and it punched holes in it but didn't stick... I didn't expect it to make a dent... Make sure you buy extra bolts for this because you will break/lose them when testing it's strength... Easy to cock back because it has a built in cock mechanism and it even has a safety... Pretty easy to string if you are strong enough to push down the bow...

Really nice crossbow, my first 1 and i like it, it's powerful enough to go like 1-2 cm into wood when u shoot. A bit hard to put together (yes it comes apart but if u read instructions and have someone to help you put the string on then it's ain't all that bad) a really nice crossbow and fun as well, i recommend it to anyone whose interested in buying a crossbow for fun

I'll admit, I was nervous about dropping $100 on what could potentially be a crappy crossbow. My fears were very quickly negated when the bow arrived. It is very solid, easy to assemble, and extremely powerful. I destroyed the first arrow because I underestimated the bow's power, and shot an arrow clean through a sheet of plywood, stripping off the fletching. After mounting a scope on the rail getting everything sighted in, I've no doubt this crossbow will take out many deer this coming hunting season.

I was nervous about ordering any of these 'cheap' crossbows, as I needed something to hunt Whitetail deer, and I was concerned none of these bows would be good enough. I couldn't afford a 'real' hunting crossbow, however, so I ultimately went with this Trailblazer Tactical, as it has the highest FPS rating of all of Budk's crossbows, and is also made of solid steel.

I live next to a field, through the winter I had rabbits eating off my young trees and shrubs doing a lot of damage. This morning I saw a rabbit in my yard and put an arrow through its head. This thing has a positively startling amount of power sheering clean through its skull only being stopped by the ground behind it. With a scope I had attached and an arrow with good straight fins its wicked accurate at mid-range. I have no doubts with the right Broadhead on my bolts I could take down much larger game. Plus I had a lot of fun with target practice and zeroing out the scope. This is probably the best crossbow you could ever hope to get for under $100 with all the power and accuracy of a much more expensive bow.

i have been nuthin less than impressed with the quality of this bow. i have put a 3x9 variable scope on it and it performs very well
Apr 09, 2010

For $100 I did not expect much of the bow but when I got it I could not believe how powerful it was. It is hard to string and I shot at a target that was about 70 yards away. I aimed slightly above it because I expected the bolt to drop but it didn't and I ended up losing the bolt. This crossbow is definitely worth the money. Editor's Note: Thank you for your comments. We have updated the review to reflect the appropriate spelling.

this bow is great it shoots fast and is very powerful, but I would recommend getting more arrows the tips break very easily. The day after I got mine all the arrows where broke but the crossbow was going strong.

It's my first crossbow I didn't have any problem putting it together or Stringing it Shot one Arrow from it seems pretty good as a first crossbow I would recommend it

This crossbow is extremely strong and reliable but setting it up is honestly the most frustrating thing in the world if you do not have a stringing string it took a good 2 hours just to put the string on. Other thatn those first two hours I love this crossbow and will go hunting with it
Apr 02, 2013

At first when i opened it i was happy to see that it was not as bulky as my neighbors and was a higher pounds and was lighter to. He got his out and shot it at a tool shed and his arrow went only a few inches in and he had weighted arrow and a hunting tip and my new smaller non compound crossbow went to the feathers and the practice tip fell off of the end. though the power is amazing it also helps make it harder to find the arrows that miss or the ones that ricochet and also the sights and the trigger are off. but this is a good weapon and it did show up a 400$ compound crossbow.

I brought this cross bow just for something I could add to my survival equipment that could act as protection and hunting. I think this is going to be great for that as long as I buy a few more back up strings. I took the bow with me on a camping trip this weekend and shot it at a tree about 20 feet away and the arrow got stuck about 3 inches in. I knew I would loose the arrow but I was anxious to try it. I put it in the car and when I came back the next day I found my sight thing (the twist thing that controls the X axis laying on the seat) I will contact budk about this but I was going to replace it with another sight anyway.... other then that its awesome ;]

I like it a lot! Only thing is that Instead of saying Cobra System, mine says Mini cross bow. Also, instead of it showing a picture of a cobra on the side, Mine...doesn't, it says Man Kung. Haha, what the hell does that mean? And well, Only trouble is putting the string on, and well, the rest is easy. I enjoyed firing it because I felt good. I ordered a big shipment and it came today! Truely impressed with TS.

the paint finish is less than what i had expected. some chips here and there and over spary on other parts. just a real shotty job on the paint. looks aside this is a great crossbow for the price. i shot into aluminum street sign that i had at a range of 15 feet. punched a hole right through it. it took two shots to make the bolt penetrate fully. this crossbow is LETHAL. <br /><br />stringing it for me was a two man job. some huffing and puffing and maybe alittle grunting to string it. perhaps i wasn't doing it right. but there you go, a good crossbow for the price.
Feb 23, 2013

It is what it is, it’s a cross bow under a 100$. TBH I really didn’t expect much but for the price it’s pretty good for home defense. The sight mount was junk and broke off easily. You'll have difficulty trying to find a shoulder strap that will fit that. The stock is made out of solid aluminum so trying to drill holes in it to screw in a shoulder strap is impossible without special tools. You'll need to have it stringed professionally too; even with a stringer it’s impossible. The two plastic ends that attached to the prod or limb should really be glued on with some form of epoxy. But it’s cheap and it gets the job done, make no mistake this thing is a killer.

After reading all the other reviews the Xbow does not meet the expectation. It seems like an average bow. I am shooting 20yard groups on about the size of a pie plate after 2hours of shooting. the jig on the string is already coming apart i see a new string in my future VERY soon. The trigger is very rough, it has a long and rough trigger pull. Remember you get what you pay for and this will be a good intro Xbow but after a season with this I am thinking it will be upgrade time.

I GOT ONE OF THIS CROSSBOW, I BOUGHT IT NEW BUT MY BIG DISMAY AND DISAPPOINTMENT BECAUSE SHOOTING IT DOES NOT WORK FINE...AFTER COCKING THE BOWSTRING AND PUTTING THE ARROW ON IT, ONCE YOU RELEASE THE TRIGGER, THE BOWSTRING WOULD NOT HIT THE END PART OF THE ARROW INSTEAD IT WILL PASS ABOVE IT NOT HITTING THE ARROW ON ITS POSITION SHREDDING ITS VANE. I DO NOT KNOW IF THERE IS ANYONE THERE WHO HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY CROSSBOW...NEED HELP OR SOME ADVISE ON WHAT TO DO TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM....THANK YOU!!!
