Product Description
The master knife maker Gil Hibben unveils his latest custom designed sword cane. A shiny black 37 3/8" shaft features wood construction with high-polish stainless steel accent details. A 14 3/4" mirror polished 7Cr17 stainless steel tanto blade snaps into the shaft and releases with a built-in blade release mechanism. The heavy-duty stainless steel head offers a great grip but can also be used as a club for additional self defense.
After reading most of the other reviews, I chose this one. Once I got it in my hands, I did like the overall looks and feel. It does have a slight looseness at the handle release which I can probably shim to firm it up. As some of the others have stated, it is a stabbing weapon, so don't expect it to be razor-sharp on the side. Yes, I like the idea of using it as a club, as long as the catch wouldn't slip out of the lock position. Time will tell on that. I doubt I'll be pulling it out of the cane very often other than just to show it to a few people. It would be cool to put some hand grips on the lower shaft.

Sturdiest sword cane on the market!
Most sword canes can not be used as a weapon. This one however can be used without having to worry about breaking it. It’s a thrusting weapon and is the same small size as most sword canes. If you are disabled and world like the confidence of carrying a sword cane for defense then this is the blade for you.

Sword cane
My overall thoughts. I purchased this because I knew the brand. I’m a little disappointed in the sharpness of the blade but still very nice

Very nice cane
Received this cane yesterday three days early. I was pleased with the quality of the materials. The handle is solid stainless steel and very heavy. The wire wrapping provides a good grip. There is no rattle when walking with cane. The release is solid yet easy to disengage. I did cut about an inch off the bottom to fit my height and added a rubber cane foot. The one it comes with reminds one of a pool cue tip. Not providing a very stable platform for actual walking aid use. The cane is very top heavy with the solid handle but makes for a makeshift club in it's own right. The blade is very pointed but not sharp at all. It is intended for stabbing not cutting. Once drawn the shaft becomes a very good off hand club. I recommend this cane for anyone who needs a permanent walking aid but also wants discreet defense. Just the sight of this blade drawn would scare away most attackers.

Very Satisfied
Very happy w/this cane. Would definitely recommend. Very nice looking cane!! I'm 6'3"' 205lb. The cane fits and easily supports my weight. Has weight to the solid steel handle. One hit with it would break someone's shin. The sword is to spear not to sword fight with. The blade is not razor sharp However, It is sharp enough to go thru a human, dog, coyote etc. Sword does not rattle in case. Well made. Other reviews may have had problems but I got an elegant looking defense cane. Well worth the $$$$$. Other sites charging $145 plus shipping for same cane.

Well worth the money

For Real
Thoroughly enjoying this beautifully designed and executed piece. Catch is precise and smooth. The short blade is first rate, state of the art. I can see why there's so much fuss about the Hibben moniker.

Another Gil Hibden Quality Knife
I have purchased sword canes in the past but his one is much better quality. My only complaint would be that the sword could have been sharper.

OKAY?
Must have got a good one. I use a cane and "thought mine was 36". Turns out it is 34". I cut 2" off the GH Sword Cane bottom, tapered it a bit, and pushed a Rubber Cane tip on it. NOW it's a cane to lean on. I think the factory tip, although pretty is WAY to skinny. Needs WIDE rubber Cane tip!

Nice Cane
This is a beautiful cane. I have some reservations w/this, with the first reservation only time will tell. Here are my thoughts. 1. I am afraid that my weight on this cane might loosen the place where the cane separates from the shaft. 2. This is advertised as "razor sharp". The point is. The rest is no where near razor sharp. 3. picture is deceiving. Read the information provided. The blade in "not" as long as the wooden shade. All in all, like I said, the cane is beautiful.

Not as advertised.
First off I am a big fan of Bud K and Gil Hibben. The cane appears to be well made and sturdy. I myself weigh over 200lbs. And it supports my weight well. But I can't get over how dull the blade is. The product they show in the video is definitely not the product you get. I believe most people buy this product for the use of the blade. Bud K definitely dropped the ball on this one . They needs to inspect their stock because false advertising can get them booted from BBB accreditation. Very Very disappointed with the blade.

beautiful short sticker
The cane is appealing to the eye, the balance feels odd due to the heavy head and length of grip vs. the short blade. It is very well crafted and the wire grip is a very nice feature. I am only giving this cane an average rating due to the advertising photo leads you to think the blade is longer than it is. I thought well after looking at the photo maybe the overall legth is 20" or more and only 14" is sharp. This was a wrong assumption. The steel is 14" and the "sharpened" portion is around 9".

Good and Bad
I love the style of the cane. It is an eye catcher. I have been using it since I left the Hospital after Heart Surgery, My ownly complaint is that the blade was extremely dull. I expected it to have a razor sharp edge. I have been trying to sharpen it with a stone. Not working well as of yet.

junk
Blade came loose shaft was cracked. Retainer on handle was missing. this is more Chinese junk.

Not as described
The cane itself is pleasing to the eyes, however the handle is very heavy and is loose. The blade is shorter than expected and is nowhere close to razor sharp. As far as a self defense weapon, would be closer described as a conversation piece.

Wall hanger
Blade loose on handle, not sharp. Really not sharp!!!!! Handle loose in shaft. I added a little Gorilla glue to the handle, Sharpened it for about an hour (steel is quite hard) and put some foam in the shaft to cure the looseness. It looks quite nice. It is pretty heavy though. Price is pretty good though.

Great Display Piece
While beautiful and great to look at, mostly a good "conversation piece" and not really recommended for something to use. Latch is unreliable, unhooks easily, which makes for an unsafe situation. I had two with the same problem, really quite disappointed.

Not Up to Expectation
For this cane to be a Gil Hibben, and the price that was paid for it,I feel that it is not the top quality product it should be. Right out of the box I noticed the blade was loose and not the "RAZOR SHARP" they claimed it would be. I own several Hibben knives and this is the first time I would not recommend this product to anyone. Very disappointing

good cane
being handicapped i do use this as a weight bearing cane and for that it is GREAT ! as previously mentioned blade is SHORT , and VERY DULL that is the reason for the LOW GRADE and NOT RECOMMENDED TO A FRIEND WHAT IS THE BEST AND EASIEST WAY TO SHARPEN ? ? ? ?
