got this in the Honshu combat sword collector's kit. it shaves out of box, but you have to work at it, it needs more time on the strop to be as sharpe as the Seax & Spartan that came in the kit with it. Well-made and feel good in hand, light & agile made for thrusting, hacking and slashing.

I ordered this sword as a first sword from Honshu to test the brand and I have to say I'm more than impressed. On this particular model the steel in the blade is not really great but I knew that before I ordered it however the build quality is far superior than any other sword I've ever seen in this price range. This is by far the highest quality Stainless Steel sword I've personally seen. Most are 'Display Quality' at best but this sword looks and feels like a solid battle ready sword. Great job and I'll definitely be ordering some more swords from Honshu!

I saw it and had to have it. As soon as it arrived in unboxed it and was not disappointed. A little bit of what looks to be leftover glue on the pommel but it does not sway my opinion. 10/10 and will be a returning customer.

The picture of this sword here does not come close to doing it justice! The lines, the fit and finish and construction of this sword is absolutely bulletproof!!! It came "arm shaving" sharp with a needle sharp point. Thi sword isn't just a wall hanger, it "is" an effective and deadly self defense weapon! Bought one for myself AND my brother! Honshu, did not disappoint. This modern style Gladius is truly BADASS!!!

This is my third Gladius and by far that of the highest quality. The blade is razor sharp and has the exact blade I was looking for, with the inward flare and wasp tip. It is slightly shorter than the cold steel gladius and my "battle ready" but completely blunt gladius. I take 1/4 of a star off because it seems noone can but a gladius together combining these things. A blade with the proper shape and sharpness, (CHECK PLUS). And a SPHERICAL handle (preferable with the metal face crusher but i could live without). The blunt gladius I have has this handle (see picture of a similar one under it). If I could put this blade on that handle i would stand on my porch all day screaming this is sparta and throwing spears into the woods while hacking weeds and dead branches. (prolly not but THE HONSHU GLADIUS WILL GIVE YOU THAT FEELING). Btw the handle on the other one, spherical pommel, wrapped in leather with finger groves and basically the same (lost the word) but guard that keeps your hand from slipping onto the blade. DO NOT let my small stick ups stop you from buying this. I have had 4 gladii? If I could only choose one this would be it.

I am very impressed with this modern gladius! It's got the basic features of history, but now updated with lighter, stronger steel. The grip is very nice for my medium sized hand, but I will be putting some Wilson leather tennis grip wrap on it to take out any hotspots. Came VERY sharp but after a few minutes with a ceramic rod, it was shaving sharp. Now about the SHEATH STRAP... At first, I thought it was just too tight and I would have to reposition the snap, (which would not have been a problem), but after working with it, eventually getting the right side of the strap to stretch by getting the snap button over the bottom snap's right edge and then pulling and pushing the button down until the leather stretched enough and it snapped. It's VERY tight but the strap will stretch just that little bit you need if you keep working with it. I tried turning the strap upside down and pulling the top strap from left to right, but it finally snapped when I turned it back right side up and pulled the strap from right to left and it eventually snapped tightly into place. The sheath is very nice and the large loop makes it easy to fit over a wide knife or duty belt. I will keep this sword for soft tissue targets and use her dark brother, my Cold Steel gladius "machete" for bones and armor, etc... best of both the ancient and modern worlds. Let's see how she holds up.

This is Honshu Gladiator sword just looks and feels damn cool! Lightweight and razor sharp (lost just a little skin off my thumb testing it)! I can't believe the quality of the blade for what I paid. It's entry level steel so not sure how it will hold up under pressure so I don't plan on testing it on anything hard. We'll probably have to test it during watermelon season, or the civil war, whichever comes first. Will the tang hold up? I don't know.

This is an awesome modern version of a Gladius! Came very sharp, the overall look and feel is amazing! Buy one of these you won't be sorry. Here is a picture of it next to my Pompeii style Gladius.

This is one of the best gladius !

Bought this as a gift and he loves it! The blade is. Beautiful and sharp. No defects that I can see and no rattles from the handle that he's noticed while destroying water bottles. The sheath is sturdy and the leather is adequately thick, fits the blade well. Only issues I can see is the belt loop is very wide, possibly making it difficult to belt carry and the snap closure is just a little bit to short to snap closed around the hilt. Not a big deal if worn on the belt maybe. All in all its a great value and my nephew loves it. He hasn't set it down since he opened the box!

I bought this as a replacement for my old cold steel gladius. And let me tell you, I like almost everything about it. Its 7cr13 stainless steel, which is not strong but it's a good starter steel for anyone new to swords. That aside, the handle is comfortable, it has a good balance and I love how SHARP and LIGHT it is so Don't let my criticism steer you from buy it. This may not be the most powerful and quality sword you'd own if SHTF but it is great in its own right especially if you know your way around swords. Now this is my 3rd Honshu blade. So far I'm not disappointed. I love the modern take on ancient weapons. I would love to see a D2 model of this blade. That would be a monster.

Just got this in and I am so glad I impulse bought this the second I saw it, the grip is almost natural, It's similar to the Honshu grips but better, its got what feels like a 17degree edge, feels good swinging with bare hands, my only issue, the sheath, the retention strap does not fit around the grip, the positive I don't think its needed, the sword doesn't fall out the sheath easy so I'm going to just remove it, this literally became my new favorite can't wait to order the battle axe

keenly sharp It is not!! It tears doesn’t cut need to sharpen yourself. genuine black leather belt sheath with snap closure strap doesn’t snap at all, the wrap it short. Tip is somewhat sharp took a while to punch a hole in a paper plate. looks good for decoration but out of box won’t cut paper
