Lots of power
This mini crossbow has some real power. It cocks easily and shoots so hard that my bolts disappear into my target block most of the time. The sights it comes with are useless and frail. Don’t expect them to hold a zero or last very long. I put a micro red dot on mine (the crossbow has a pic rail) and now it’s very accurate at up to 60 feet. With a red dot this crossbow is a legitimate self defense tool or small game killer for distances up to 20 yards.

Nice crossbow, but NO instructions!
It is pretty cool for a mini crossbow, but there were absolutely NO instructions in the box- I had to go to YouTube to find out how to thread it(no easy task). Otherwise, it is a good little crossbow, though I wish they’d made it out of a metal material, like aluminum, or steel.

Great lil crossbow
Cool lil crossbow especially if you ain’t got 200 or 300 plus to spend on a better one. I don’t know what it’s hunting capabilities or limits out in the field are or anything. I got it to just have fun with.. at first didn’t know how it went together because I’ve never assembled a crossbow before but it was pretty simple without any directions.. again its not a expensive crossbow!! and I could assemble this m48 hell hawk again and again now with no problems... so yeah I recommend anyone to get it just to have fun with it..

I got mines today no problems
This will be my private collection not for heavy use. I just got in today and took a week and half to get here. Arrived in one piece. I hope they can make a metal version the of M48 one day that could been a lot better. Don't over use the bow or it'll break. You can always send it back for an exchange or refund. This will be my 7th pistol crossbow that I got. I don't need instructions I already know to assemble the bow and I know how to string the limb with no help at all. This is a great way to enjoy quarantine and social distancing, have some target practice once in a while. Budk will continue taking and shipping orders during these dark times. Get your crossbows today and get what you need that way you don't get board at home. Times have changed. I'm truly satisfied with my purchase once again and a proud costumer of Budk. No complaints here. I will always buy from Budk thanks again.

Great buy
I bought this for my stepson. He is 6'7" 335 lbs and plays football on scholarship, so this looked like a mini toy in his hands. He too had trouble stringing it, until I showed him to slide the bow all the way to one end on the rail. That gives you way more leverage to bend the bow. Once he saw that it was like putty in his hands. I could do it fine myself but I'm only 6'2" 220 lbs. Leverage helps guys. That said, this lil sucker sinks bolts deep into our arrow target. Sometimes too deep. And I'm hitting bullseyes at 25' consistently. It's a lot of fun, but hard to find the little bolts in the hillside where we'd shoot. I suggest high visibility colored bolts. Rabbits and squirrels don't stand a chance against this thing! Way fun!

M48 Hell Hawk
This is my first crossbow and I am happy with the purchase. It hits hard and is accurate. I love the ease of self-cocking mechanism. One draw back, the plastic tang that releases the cocking mechanism broke after a dozen uses. I made another with some 1/4 plate steel. This was an issue in other reviews. If you don't have tools and know-how, you might have short use of this crossbow.

Sturdy, accurate, powerful little crosser.
Nice little crosser. The self-cocking feature works smoothly. The safety has good tension to where you cannot accidentally push it into fire position. Hits the target hard and accurate. Did not come with instructions, but did not need them, you can just look at the box for correct assembly. Would be nice if it came with a stringing aid, but still was easy to string by myself using the floor method (don’t use the butt as a leverage or you will most likely break it). The only con is the plastic lever that locks the butt had broken after a few uses. It could be made thicker. I made my own out of plate steel instead of trying to fix the original piece and no problems since then.

NEEDS INSTRUCTIONS AND STRINGING AID
This is the 1st crossbow of any type that we have purchased and its for my wife to have some fun with. That said it was left to me to assemble it. There were no instructions in the box or on the box and I had to go to youtube to find out how you cocked it and read on this site how hard it was to string. That part took locking it down it a vise and using all my 300 lbs to get it done. But, here is the stupid part. Once it was assembled and strung, I cocked it and tried to pull the trigger it wouldn't budge. It doesn't have a safety so it took some serious looking and head scratching to find THE LITTLE PIN THAT WENT THRU THE FRAME AND THRU THE HAMMER. EVIDENTLY ITS THERE FOR SOME REASON BUT I CAN'T THINK OF WHY. Anyway I managed to get it out with a drift punch and now it cocks and shoots like it is supposed to. Please advise the manf. to put decent instructions in with these.

It's a good crossbow
I recently bought this crossbow and so good so far and the only downside was stringing the prod. It didn't come with a stringing aid and I found it requires 4 sets of arms to bend the limbs and another set of hands to string it. So 3 you'll need 4 strong armed guys and a someone to put on the string, but once you got it strung its a reliable crossbow.

Hell hawk pistol crossbow
I usually don't write reviews, but we are having so much fun with this crossbow, I just had to let others know that it is very well designed and easy to use. It is a great compromise between the powerful hunting type crossbows and the small pistol crossbows. It is easy to cock, and it is actually very accurate. It could probably be used for hunting small game, but we have been shooting at dense foam targets in the basement. It packs a pretty good hit, so we had to use 2 targets together. If you enjoy this type of fun, I suggest getting extra bolts and string. It is also helpful with this crossbow (or any crossbow) to use wax on the rail and string wax on the string. This will make the string last a lot longer. I have 4 other crossbows, and this is probably my favorite one. I would put this in the same category as a very good powerful pellet gun-- not a toy, but not a devastating weapon either. Great for basement shooting matches.

Good first crossbow experience
I've never owned a crossbow before because the pistol versions handled and felt like toys, while the high powered and hunting styles were slow. This one caught my attention immediately when it debuted BudK and I knew I this was what I was looking for. I received it just today and have fired a dozen bolts through it and sighted it at 10 yards. Consistent flight and power provided a tight grouping, which was also aided by the adjustable stock and sights. The Hell Hawks grip contours smoothly in the firing hand and the foregrip helps give this weapon great stability. The cocking action is extremely smooth and almost effortless considering the draw weight. Extremely happy with the purchase
TL;DR: This thing is a beast

Definitely NOT a toy!
Was happy when it showed up. Was shipped very quickly and arrived undamaged. Now, this is where the 4 star rating comes in. This did NOT come with ANY instructions on how to put it together. Now, I'm pretty handy, and figured it out just by the pictures pretty quickly, but a set of real instructions would be nice.
Also was difficult to string up to finish assembly. Just requires a bit of arm strength and maybe a foot to help out. Just an FYI there.
On to the good stuff. Very easy to cock and load. Takes about as much as you would to cock a break barrel air rifle. Maybe a touch more.
Went to the local mom and pop sporting good store near me. They were having a customer appreciation sale. Picked up a field point only block for about $20. Loaded the bow up, and gave it a try. This thing hits HARD at about 10-15 yards. And is quite accurate given it's size. Definitely worth the money for something to have fun with, and maybe even take small game at close range. This will get some good use indoors too, as my basement has a good length of open space to use.
Aside from the lack of instructions, I am very pleased with this and plan on getting the bigger Tactical 120lb in the near future.

Maybe they are found online?
Did anyone else's crossbow come without instructions for assembly? This is my first crossbow... for the price, and because it is M48, I thought it might be a good starter crossbow. The auto-cocking feature was an attractive option. However, I'm concerned about winging the assembly and having it become a safety issue of some kind. I'm mechanically inclined, have BRM from 8 years in the Army, and all... but that same military training is what has me doing a risk assessment and range safety briefing in my head. I'm certain that even if the Hell Hawk isn't the best in its class, it's a sharp looking little arrow flicker to put those 6" bolts downrange and maybe menace an intruder if need arises before resorting to more terminal means of area denial.

Dogshit
Terrible purchase for anyone. First and foremost, you need to buy a stringing aid and it does not come with instructions.
Second, within one hour of shooting the crossbow broke and was no longer functional. Will not be buying another crossbow from BudK's M48 line.

Trash
this thing broke into 3-4 pieces after just a few uses. the metal is weak, the plastic breaks like glass, this thing is trash.
