Stout blade!
I've been putting together a bug-out bag, and this is definitely going in. I've been a fan of Schrade ever since my dad gave me an Uncle Henry pocketknife. Like most, I was a little concerned with the heft of this blade, but after wielding it for a while, it felt like an extension of my hand. The balance is great, and the edge was good out of the box but could use a quick honing. The spine is good and straight. I recommend this blade.

Still like it
Took this knife on a week long hike. Used it for splitting fire wood. Edge held up. Later, upon inspection, I noticed a forge crack about a hslf inch from the tip. The meat of the blade is still solid. As long as I don't drop it, tip down, on a hard surface, it should continue to serve me well.

Excellent work
Already using making feather sticks and some basic primitive traps having to get used to the weight and size but with a little more practice I'll be there really enjoy this addition to my kit.

Firewood processing machine
I bought this thinking it may have been a bit excessive. Not so. When I first held it I thought it was too heavy and thick, but, after a minute I came to like it. It has the heft to chop like a hatchet and the quality steel to keep a razor edge. It's beautifully balanced and I could not find one imperfection in the manufacture of this knife. With the diamond sharpening stone and ferro rod this is a firewood processing beast from start to finish. My new favorite knife. Thank you Schrade and Budk knives.

Impressive
A sturdy outdoor knife, well-made handle and a blade that asks for hard use. Though well-made, I agree with the other reviews about the handle size; I have large hands and I don't feel a balanced hold on the knife unless I slip my index finger into the finger choil forward of the grip. Once I get that grip though, the knife rides nicely in my hand. The handle construction offers a solid, reliable grip. The blade slides into a hard plastic insert inside the nylon outer layer of the sheath and the exterior pocket contains the sharpening stone, rod and striker as promised. Great tool for not a lot of green. I can't wait to get it out in the woods!

Topshelf survival knife!!
I just received the Schrade schf37 from budk, & I can say this knife is every thing you need in a survival, bushcraft knife. I had been reviewing this blade for at least a month, & purchased it through budk's free shipping offer. (Great deal budk!). Good sharp edge, hefty, sturdy thick blade, full tang, good blade length for tackling bigger projects (batoning, chopping firewood)around the campsite.
The sheath is of fair quality, & with ferro rod & blade sharpener included, a very good value. This knife performs great, a tool you can depend on out in the woods. Only wish the handle was a little bit longer. In my opinion, one of the best survival knives Schrade is offering now. Great knife, great value! Highly recommend this blade!

rubberized grips
great knife over-all. handle feels a tad bit small for those with larger hands. sharp straight out of the box. sheath was nicer than expected. buy it, use it, love it. my only complaint is that the knife pictured in the description was NOT the correct knife. The knife pictured was the more expensive version, with micarta wood grips. just be sure you read the description of the pictured item before you buy.
